Get Your Community Moving
The Olympic ideal is not just about the performance of a group of elite athletes during the period of an Olympic Games, but of the activities of millions of people enjoying Olympic sports every day of the year.
The objective of the Get Moving Programme is to remove a fear of exercise amongst a mass audience, and make physical activities accessible and fun for everyone. Research indicates that once people are helped onto a path of healthy living in a way that suits their lifestyle, they will continue to find time for a little activity every day.
Get Moving helps people to help themselves. Created by Olympic athletes and coaches it buildings on the proven principle that 15-minute bursts of activity are an ideal and accessible basis for building fitness routines. Get Moving is a flexible exercise programme that operates within Communities and helps people of all ages, lifestyles and levels of fitness to participate in exercise and sports within local communities.

| - |
Personalised Exercise Programmes through Diaries and a Website that provide tailored solutions that build from gentle walking, through fitness routines and into broader sports participation. |
| - |
Local Get Moving Weeks including Road-Shows with Olympic Athletes that provide the public with advice on how to introduce a little more activity into their daily routines. |
| - |
National Get Moving Week featuring Club Open Events that allow people to try out a selection of different sports so as to choose one that best suits their needs. |
| - |
Communications Programme that uses media to achieve the objectives of prompting consideration and participation, while building Get Moving into a brand delivering the success of the individual strands of the programme.
|
Get Moving reaches out to people, sharing critical wellbeing messages and encouraging them to participate in activity at their own level and in their own time.
